Hello there friends!!! 😁
This is my sixteenth post about the Urban Sketchers of Medellín, this session was at Santa Elena Village.
Santa Elena is a Village just next Medellín on the East side Mountains, has a much higher altitude of course, thus is quite cold, this trip was also funded by the same Cultural Program as the one to Jericó so again we had free transport and some nourishments.
However the bus wasn't in great conditions and it left us stranded halfway to Santa Elena... having to hitch for a ride on another bus to get there, of course we got sent another bus for returning home later that day hehe.
So once we arrived the village, we started to wander around exploring the place, there wasn't much to see near the main park as the village is quite small and the interesting parts like we far km away, so a bunch of us headed to the cemetery, which sounded like the most promising thing to see nearby.
I was hoping to find hundreds of tombstones but this cemetery was quite different from any other I had seen, it was composed of small house like structures filled with holes on the sides were the remains of the deceased are stored. Going further to the end of the cemetery we found a very rustic cremation site...kinda of creepy so we returned to the Gate, some stayed there to draw the place but I headed back to the main park with another friend and then sketched a bit.
The morning went by quickly and it was already time to lunch so went to one of those mini restaurants near the main park had some typical food and stayed there chatting a bit, afterwards we headed to a Lookout with a gorgeous view, as the afternoon progressed the weather turned cloudier and colder, so once we arrived the lookout I had a hot beverage to warm up and then from this amazing view of this mountainous landscape which finally inspired me to draw something properly hehe...
Ok so let's continue with the Sketches.
