It's alive! - Where I Was All Those Days

Yes, it's been a while. Or shall I say, it's been a very long time! The past half year I didn't really contribute to this community. Much has happened in the past months, that just kept me distracted too much.

One of which, was breaking up after quite some years with my now ex-girlfriend. I don't want to go into details, but let's say it takes some getting used to being single again. What I can say though, I'm back on track and I'm actually starting to enjoy it more and more :)

How to fill your single life?

When becoming single after a long period of time, you suddenly are stuck with a boatload of spare time to fill. And boy did I do this! It's obvious I didn't take Steemit into the equation. However, I dove headfirst into a life filled with sports!

Right after breaking up, I decided it was time to get the ball rolling in the sports and exercise department. I got my trusty old racebike out of the shed and out of the dust. At every moment there was wind, I went out for some wind surfing. And eventually, I got somewhat addicted to running.

Conquering the Swiss Alpes

My first big sporty event last year involved getting some of my colleagues and myself on race bikes. Why? A cycling-weekend in Switzerland!

This trip would involve 3 days of cycling and a total of 8000 (!) meters of elevation gain. Thus far, the most sporty thing I've ever done. I simply was never really a sporty kinda guy. Well, exciting it was... Tough on the body, but exciting!

To give you an idea, here are some pictures taken on that trip:

For all you data-junkies, the Strava-data of this trip can be found here: day-1, day-2, day-3.

In the next weeks, I will write some more posts about other big sports event's I've joined and will join in the future. To give you a little teaser, I've signed up for a 6-day cycling tour in, yes you've guessed it, the Alpes!

The Bottom Line

As I said, I never was a sporty person, and I must confess that I was quite nervous about this trip. I wasn't sure if I could make it. Although I had the tough situations before, these three days in the Alpes reminded me of an important thing. That is, if you really passionately want to achieve something, you can do it! Just by pushing hard!
