This is because our electrical supply has become unstable due to years of corruption, looting and mismanagement at the national power supplier.
On top of that, Cyclone Idai knocked out the cables that supply power from the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric plant in neighbouring Mozambique, further straining the system to just above breaking point. Yeah, we're in trouble but spare a thought for all the people whose lives have been destroyed in four countries. No-one even knows what the final death toll is at this stage.
