Hoy es sábado, estamos en el fin de semana, pero si me llega algún trabajo por el correo lo voy a sacar adelante. Así que, en realidad, no se me hace muy diferente a otros días. Bien, comencemos señalando que se tienen registros arqueológicos de lo que actualmente es #Mexico que colocan la creación de las hamacas, o #chinchorros, entre los años 250 y 900 de nuestra era común. El uso de este mueble portátil para dormir se propagó por distintas naciones sometidas a su poder y se compartió también por comercio con otras naciones y pueblos. Es así como llegó a las islas caribeñas que habitaban los tainos, pueblo con el que Colón tuvo contacto en su primer viaje de exploración al Nuevo Mundo, hacia finales del Siglo XV. Por cierto, se comenta que en lenguaje taino la palabra que se usaba para nombrar esta #cama era una que significaba ‘red para pescado’, cosa que yo encuentro irónica, pues si bien se tejía de manera similar, su tamaño y los soportes adicionales en sus extremos, la hacían de poco uso en la pesca en realidad.

En la antigüedad era un producto artesanal, pero hoy en día es un producto industrializado que se puede encontrar en distintos colores y hecho de diferentes materiales. No ha dejado de existir la producción artesanal, pero es mucho más común encontrar los productos de producción masiva. Los materiales para su elaboración ya no son solamente las fibras naturales extraídas de la corteza del árbol Hamack, sino que los materiales sintéticos son los que dominan, pero se tiene también que decir que los plásticos con los que se elaboran las fibras para las hamacas bien pueden ser elaboradas a partir del reciclaje de plásticos, y puede que las mismas hamacas sean recicladas luego de terminar su tiempo de vida.
