My Steem Journey...

How I first came to Steemit
I was looking to have diversity in my investments and wanted some cryptocurrencies but I didn't want to invest my hard earned dollars into such a volatile market.
I had heard about Steemit a number of years ago. It was touted to me as a way you could make $20 dollars a day posting. That sounded good but I was more into eCommerce at the time and let the opportunity slide for a bit.
Further down the road, with warnings of a looming economic crisis, I decided I'd check out this Steemit thing again. My idea was to use all that PLR content I had stored on my hard drive for posting to make myself some cryptocurrency.
Once I got into setting up my blog and engaging with some Steemians like @mountainjewel @riverflows my whole concept of what this Steem thing was changed. I think I did one post using my PLR content before I awakened to the awesomeness there was here on Steem! I was motivated to get back into writing and to up my game - adding value to the blockchain!
I was fascinated with the different folks I was meeting from all over the world who were posting about things I had a keen interest in. Then I found out about the different communities (one of the first being @ecotrain) and I was having fun with the different contests and challenges being presented! I no longer really cared about the crypto so much, it was more about the people and the communities.
I came for the crypto - I stayed for the communities!

I had got my love of writing back and the level of engagement with genuine, supportive, like-minded folk kept me going through the rough patches like after the last Hardfork and the changes it bought about plus the drop in crypto prices - specifically STEEM. There was lots of ups and downs but I found the the connections through the communities was pretty steadfast.
It was exciting to see the development of new communities here on Steem, serving a purpose I believed in. Like -
@NaturalMedicine

They're all for empowerment through natural wisdoms, and love to support those on their healing journey!
@HomesteadersCoop

Here is a concept that was really opening doors, such possibilities and a strong community pulling together with great potential coming forth. It was enabling folks to participate in an alternative economy through a International community marketplace (venue at http://HomesteadersCoop.com ) that accepted STEEM, SBD, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) plus there is the option to barter or take part in a gifting economy! And there is no middle man cutting into your profits. No fees - it's 100% free service! I opened my store - Porters Place there and I love being able to easily shop with my aarned STEEM or SBD. I've bought tinctures and lovely lavender sachets. Here's the box opening from those purchases where I received some lovely surprises!

I love to see the power of Steemians pulling together! Like when we got Steem listed on Netcoins and the team effort to win the 200,000 SP delegation from @theycallmedan - @Steemitbloggers A.K.A. #PowerHouseCreatives really shone there!
I love how Steemians pull together for charities and to help folks in need. Having a Steem account has made it real easy to give!

When there was a fall off of folks from Steem because of difficulties after the Hardfork and the drop in STEEM price, I had no intention of leaving, it never entered my mind, for I had found something more rewarding than those STEEM, SBD and SP rewards for posting - it is the fellowship of my community members, the vision of possibilities that could come into fruition with the growth and coming together I was witnessing in the Steem world! And Heck! There is the permanent mark I'm making on the blockchain where folks can come to get to know me better and some of my posts could be the beginnings of my memoir or at least a record of my times! So I will continue to keep Steeming on and hope many more come to join us on this Steem journey!
This is a response to @zord189 contest put together for the @steemitbloggers A.K.A. #PowerHouseCreatives members. He asks...
