Yesterday I woke up at 5am and took my time to get ready to go fishing. After having breakfast, I headed out to The Entrance. I decided to go discover the south side of the lake. The area wasn’t what I expected with not many structure. I tried to reach the opposite side of the lake but after 40 minutes of pedalling on the kayak I gave up and turn around. No fish but it was an amazing morning on the calm water.
Today, same plan, however I decided to launch from the usual location at Picnic point near the mouth. To my friend’s advice, I tried the sand flats and started drifting. I burley the area with some bread and put a shrimp on a bobber rig and caught two nice Yellowfin Breams.
Later on, I switched to beach worms and caught one more bream and two sand whitings. That’s my day!
I then found a spot where garfish and mullets were gathering and started targeting them on bread. No long after, I got two mullets and a garfish and drop a couple. Mullets are very acrobatic fish, nice fight in light tackle.
It’s been a while since I have caught a mixed bag like this. Shallow water are great spots for many kind of fish, I will definitely come back here.
