The Looking Glass

“The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
And whether pigs have wings."

—Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll

The Looking Glass

There has been a lot of debate about what or who Lewis Carroll was referring to when he wrote “The Walrus and the Carpenter.”
Although he wrote this way before crypto currency was a thing, I think the Walrus could represent Steemit and we the Steemians are the carpenter, helping to build the blockchain.

Steemit like the Walrus has encouraged us to open up and talk about things we might never have mentioned. We talk about our daily life with it’s hardships and blessings, our health, family, work, animals and just about anything under the sun.

I, like many others, don’t like talking about my earlier life. I think it’s a carryover from childhood, when I was warned not to talk about anything that went on in the home. Basically, keep a stiff upper lip and carry on, no matter how you felt. It was the days when children were to be seen and not heard. The discipline received would be called physical abuse nowadays.

Like the Walrus said,

“The time has come to talk of many things.”

My Five Minute Freewrite on the prompt Walrus.
