Rainy rush Monday

Today starts a new week and as the weather forecast was warning, it started raining. We need several days of rain to start getting water reservoirs to their average levels as the past year and a half have been really dry. But rain in the Barcelona metro area means kaos.

I woke up early as we had to take one of our cars to the mechanic. One of the sensors was not working properly. Modern cars have a lot of electronic assistance services which are great, but when they start not working properly, it is a pain to have to call the insurance, get an appointment, leave the car in the shop for a couple of days, and then come pick it up. Even if the insurance covers the cost, the amount of time you lose is quite annoying.

Traffic on Mondays is always quite awful, it is as if some people do not want to take public transport the first day of the week, and roads are much more collapsed compared to other days of the week. Add to that the rain and you have the perfect cocktail for a stressful start of the week.

We spend more than 1 hour to just drop the car at the mechanic and come back home to start working. I love being able to work from home and avoid commuting every day, but you can still suffer some of the inconveniences of living in a quite dense area with 90% of the population leaving their homes at the same time to go to work.

When I finally got home and sat in front of the computer, I could see the screen-saver photo from the village in Portugal we visited last week, as I uploaded it last night. All of a sudden I told myself I needed to get the tiny house ready soon to be able to spend several months there. Even if you have to work and spend several hours a day in front of the screen, life is much healthier and slow and this is what I miss from there.

I will try to plan ahead of time all the things I need to start doing on the property to get it comfortable to live and work from there as soon as possible.
