The most important factor in any project is the human one. You can never launch a new project alone, build a business alone, or even compete alone, even in solo sports you need a coach and several other team members to reach a certain level of professionalism. Besides the need, having a well-balanced team is key to success. You can have the best experts but if the team is not balanced you will suffer at any time in the future.
Recruiting a team is one of your first tasks when building a new business, you need to spend time analyzing the key areas of the new project to decide the profiles you need, and then you need to start searching for contacts in your network to select and finally convince new members to join you in the new venture. If you are bootstraping, the effort is even harder as the only incentive is the project itself and your ability to picture it interesting enough for others to put time on it expecting it will provide income in the future.
It is not easy, many people are not prepared to join due to their time and monetary restrictions, and some may be overprepared or underprepared for the stage the project is facing. Whatever the case, you need to persist until you find a good balanced team, otherwise, the project will suffer and have many chances of ending up failing.
Besides looking for the team, you need to focus on the rest of the areas of the project, especially your clients and users, as they are the ones who will validate your model with their interests first and services once you launch. There is no need to have the house finished before trying to sell it, actually, you rather have only the plans and location before you start showing it to the market and listen to their feedback, but you have to be prepared to start building as soon as the market gives you signs of demand.
As the project grows, there are many milestones you reach and problems you overcome, and the team is key to celebrating as the human factor is what gives a project a reason to be. We all have heard many times, that people are the most important asset of an organization, when you are in the process of creating a new venture, you realize that is absolutely true.
