A Piece Of Hope

It's been a while since I wrote for a Hive Learners topic which I do apologize. There was a combination of not being able to resonate with the previous topics, being sick and being busy.

Without further ado, I will be talking about making the world better. For me, this is quite simple. One thing we can all do to make this world better is by helping those in need. There are those that are less fortunate. Some were born that way, Some had an unfortunate event or some just made a wrong turn in life and it very well could be a combination of these three.

People may think oh I don't have any money and I'm struggling myself which is perfectly fine. Of course, we have to prioritize and make sure our basic needs are being met. However, there's more than just money to giveaway to help those in need. What you may ask? It's actually quite simple and that is called volunteering.

Sorry for the crumply t-shirt

You can see the above picture is a shirt I got from volunteering for a charity hunt last year. If I recall, those that participated had a red shirt and the volunteers had the green one. Wait what volunteers got free t-shirts for volunteering. I get to help people and I get a free-shirt just for spending my time; that's such a great deal. Of course, I won't always get a t-shirt for volunteering but what matters is the heart to volunteer for something that helps those that need it. The t-shirt is just a bonus and can also help bring back the memories of the particular event. Anyways for this event, I was helping with the packing of goody bags and on the event itself, I just had to make sure people knew where to go and what to do. This event was able to raise RM90,000 which is around 19k USD for PKIK which is a center that helps children/people with learning disabilities.

As you can see, there's going to be A piece of hope Charity #4 happening next month. I believe it's going to be a treasure hunt again and this time they will be raising money for KCKL which is a center that focused in helping people with down syndrome. I've already planned to volunteer for this and hopefully I won't have anything that comes up making me unable to attend. If you're in Malaysia, do bring your friends and participate. It should be a lot of fun!

Concluding Thoughts

As you can see, you don't need money to give money to make the world a better place. Volunteering and giving your time is another way. Aside from this treasure hunt, I believe I also participated in helping feed the homeless during my university days and I even bought food for people on the streets before. So to conclude my post, I would like to end with a quote that I recently found and liked which is actually from the website for this upcoming treasure hunt.

Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more - H. Jackson Brown Jr.

The world can be a better place when people are giving more whether that be time or money.
