Bike Ride For A Cause

Today was a very special day. You see, in my city, there is a team called "Cycling Escape." Very often, they organize events where they invite people to hop on their bicycles and go for rides, sometimes covering long distances and at other times, shorter ones. The primary goal behind these events is to encourage people to reduce their reliance on cars and, instead, opt for bicycles. This initiative is crucial, especially in a relatively small town where everything is conveniently close, yet cars still dominate the roads, accounting for around 95% of the vehicles.

Typically, they manage to gather more than 200 people for these rides. To ensure safety and manage the large group of cyclists, the police are always close by because, with that many people on bikes, there might be instances where cars need to wait patiently.

Today, they organized an even more special event in collaboration with the Cancer Patients' Association of Katerini. They arranged a bike ride aimed at not only getting people on their bikes but also educating them about cancer prevention. The day began with a bike ride, providing an opportunity to spread awareness about cancer prevention. Following the ride, local DJs and singers hosted a lively party for the participants.

This unique event not only promotes healthy and eco-friendly modes of transportation but also highlights the importance of supporting those affected by cancer and encouraging cancer prevention. It's a great example of how a community can come together to make a positive impact and have fun in the process.

In 2017, 9.6 million people are estimated to have died from the various forms of cancer. Every sixth death in the world is due to cancer, making it the second leading cause of death – second only to cardiovascular diseases.
