We live in a technological age. Each year we are see more technical advancements that further the development of things. This is something that is only accerlating.
Many ask how I can be so confident in decentralization when the masses showed no inclination towards it.
My answer was proven by a post put up by @reggaemuffin.
In the post, it was shown how the markdown editor in front ends was redone. This was a dilemma since the editor that existed was inadequate. In need of one for @tokenbb, the quest was on. This started with @steempeak that had the most advanced editor yet was still not up to par.
Fortunately, the code was open source meaning that @reggaemuffin could improve upon it. By forking that editor, the progress was sped up since the improvements could be made to what was already in place. There is no competition or issues with what is taking place. In fact, Steempeak will most likely adopt this into its website.
Of course, this is not the end of the story. The new editor is also open source and anyone can take that code and improve upon it. This is how forking in the technical world works. It is taking what is there and +1 it. We hear a lot about forking of blockchains yet that is often a money grab. One of the main reasons to fork is to improve upon the code.
The neat thing about this is now there is a "move" on to keep improving the editor. Anyone on this blockchain can look at the code and amend it as he or she sees fit. Since the Markdown editor is what is used by front ends, this will only help to improve every application that uses it.
Here is the entire post.

This contains, in a nutshell, why centralization does not stand a chance.
Let me ask everyone, what are they working on over at Facebook? The answer is whatever is decided upon within the framework of what management set forth.
And who is working on those projects? Facebook employees obviously.
On here, people work on whatever interests them. Also, anyone is free to add to a project. There are no boundaries or limitations. Anyone reading these works can fork what Reggaemuffin created. It is under an open source license.
The development will eventually overtake what happens at the centralized entities. In short, they cannot keep up. Employing thousands of programmers will not keep pace with hundreds of thousands of them working on open source projects. The amount of code put out by the later keep growing.
People are going to want more advanced things developed. As time goes by, they will not want to wait around for updates and newer applications. This is where the centralized world hits a wall. While they have the advantage of speed in terms of the transactions in addition to money, they will not have the development speed. That is going to cripple them long term.
People may not care about decentralization or freedom or much else we talk about. What they do want is new things to play with. They want newer innovations that are interesting, fun, or make life easier.
The efforts of a couple people just upgraded every front end that uses the Markdown editor. That is something difficult to fight against.
