What's up plebs?
I got some more silver coinage for you today, this time a commemorative piece minted in 2000:
On a first look it looks like it features a small city or village or something. At least that was my first guess.
Well, this time I nailed it as this piece was minted for the 2000th Anniversary of the City of Bonn.
In case you haven't heard of it before, Bonn dates back to the Roman times. It is located in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the banks of the Rhine. It has a population of over 300.000 peeps and is one of the oldest cities of Germany.
Among other things, it's the birthplace of birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven whom you have probably heard of. He was pretty big in the music industry back in the day 😅🎼
Bonn, city, Köln Regierungsbezirk (administrative district), North Rhine–Westphalia Land (state), Germany. The city is located on the Rhine River, about 15 miles (24 km) south of Cologne. From 1949 to 1990 it was the provisional capital of West Germany, and it served as the seat of the German federal government from 1990 until 1999–2000, when the government completed its move to Berlin (designated the capital in 1991). source and more info
Fyi, I believe the half like star on the coin is supposed to be the sun drawn in Roman style. Or not.
Ok, let's flip the coin:
As always, a unique design of the German imperial eagle and the value of the coin...
This one is designed by Paul Effert, a German stamp artist and medalist. He has also designed another German mark. Click here for a quick biography of him in German.
And finally we have the edge, engraved with the words BONN BLÜHE UND BLEIBE
This can be roughly translated to "Bonn, bloom and stay" or "Bonn, flourish and remain."
Ok, this are pretty much the basic historic facts behind the coin. Plenty of info on Google about Bonn if you would like to learn more 😀
When it comes to silver, this piece weights 15.5 g with a purity of 0.625. That's about 9.7 grand of pure silver.
It's been quite a while since I last checked the spot price. Let's see how silver is doing:

Yeah, pretty much where I left it at around 0.7 $ per gram 😅😂
As for this particular coin, it usually goes for around 12-13 euro a piece.
Overall, an okayish coin I guess. Doesn't appeal much to me since I don't have a particular interest on the city!
Ok fellow plebs, I think this is it for today.
See you soon with more shiny 🥰
