The Gunners got back to winning ways yesterday at the Emirates and it was so much fun and joy to watch . After two consecutive losses suffered from the hands of Westham in the Efl cup and Newcastle in the Epl respectively, Arsenal bounced back beating Sevilla 2-0 in the Champions League.
This happened to be the return leg after the first leg was played in Spain two weeks ago with the Gunners coming out of that game with a 1-2 win.Arteta's lineup for the match included David Raya at goal, Gabriel, Saliba, Ben White , Tomiyasu, Rice, Havertz , Jorginho, Trossard , Saka and Martinelli.
From the start of the whistle , it was obvious the boys really wanted something tangible out of the match which was nothing but a comfortable victory. The boys really had their gameplay in an offensive manner painstakingly and patiently working the ball to the final third of the Sevilla half.
The breakthrough came for the Gunners in the 29th minute of play when Jorginho made a sublime pass out of nowhere breaking and splitting the Sevilla defence. The pass successfully located Bukayo Saka who crossed the ball one time for Trossard who inturn conveniently slotted in the ball into the goal post making it 1-0 breaking the deadlock.
The second half was also filled with much action from the Gunners . This time around Zinchenko came in for Tomiyasu who picked up a knock in the first half .
Arsenal doubled their league courtesy of a Bukayo Saka crispy finish in the 64th minute . A Kai Havertz assist made this possible surprisingly. The Spanish side tried their very best to put a goal through the Arsenal post but the Gunners' defence was rock solid . They didn't have a shot on target till late in the second half courtesy of a direct shot at Raya from former Real Madrid player , Mariano.
With this victory, Arsenal sit top of group B with 9 points with 2 games to go in a bid to progress to the knockout stage .
After a long while of absence from the Champions League I think it's safe to say Arsenal's reunion with Europe's most elite club competition hasn't been too much of a bad run . Saka picked up a knock on his ankle during the match as well. I hope it's nothing too serious as he is instrumental in the Gunners' squad with the absence of Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odeegard. It will be a blow if he is out for a couple of games , I really just hope that won't be the case .
Next stop for the Gunners will be a home game at the Emirates against Burnley in the Epl. This is a must win game for Arteta and his boys as they try to secure top spot in the league as well . I hope the Gunners come out victorious in this forth coming duel. Till then as I'll always say it's fingers crossed! COYG!!
