I would like to create a known community outside of any other website or social media platform for photographers. The idea would be to have an IOS/Android mobile app that would allow people to share their photos to the community and maybe even get paid from others who view/download their photography as well. It would be a similar idea to the well known companies like Eyeem or viewbug however as the potential creator of this app, I would not take ANY royalties from photos sold or try to claim any ownership of others' work. I most likely would only have a single ad once you open up the app to help retain the app's expenses and maintenance; that would be the only "grab for money" ( if you will ) that the app would have.
I want to create a community that is based off photography but try to do so that would be different from Instagram or any other photo-sharing platform so then people would actually be intrigued by yet another photo platform on the app store.
I really do not know what the exact premise of this would be design wise or really what the app would have to offer exactly. I just want to know first off, if there would be an initial interest in this idea to begin with...
A very quick list of what the app may have for you:
follow, admire (like) and engage with like-minded photographers and share your thoughts with each other to help grow on the vision20Twenty community.
Earn 100% earnings from any possible purchases (downloads) of your photo(s) and this could include having your own personal product store set up for your photos (easier to manage).
Be included in a public community forum/chat room or receive direct messages from people who follow you- they would have to be following you, not just anyone could message you (trying to ween out as much spam as possible).
Check out latest posts from any of the Jabr hub pages from instagram through a different tab in the app.
participate in the weekly photography contests in which winners would be decided based off of amount of "boosts" (votes) one receives on their submissions. Potential for having cash rewards for winners chosen.
Uses would only be able to join through a personal link that someone has given you, again, trying to take out the spam.
Sales from your photos would be processed using Paypal or credit/debit and the funds would be available to be withdrawn by using cheque or processed through interac e-transfer, the only thing would be is that income tax would be the user's responsibility not the app's. So therefore for every purchase completed, the app would need to offer a receipt to the buyer and to the seller.
Costs of purchasing a photo would only cost $1 but once you gain enough followers ( this may also be in change due to the invite-only linkto join idea) and your asking price per purchase could go up to a maximum of $3. No tax on any of the purchases ( I'd have to look up the taxing laws on digital goods first) so a $3 purchase would be only $3.
A possible referral program for the community.
referrals from the possible referral program would automatically follow you and there would be a referral tab in the app where it would give a list of the users you referred and thus keeping you always connected with them so you can help them out with any possible concerns/issues they may have.
Perhaps more features added later on...
These are only quick thoughts to throw out there and like I mentioned before I would have to do a lot of research on how the financial side of the app would work and how I could use these features to be helpful and engaging.
