How to engage these days?

@gingbabida hosts the Proof of Engagement Contest.

I find it hard to join.

I know every word I comment can be read by each of you but I consider comments as private.
I am aware most of you do not read or care about the written words and if you read a post at all you seldom read the comments but still...

Do you know a ladybug is an ordinary bug, can be a very nasty biter?
Using this animal as a sign of love, peace, caring is as ridiculous as using a spiny rose that says "don't touch me!" as a proof of real love.

I started sharing my questions on dpoll.xyz.
Since I do so I must honestly say I receive more comments. People are willing to explain and give a reason. It's not always possible because at times the comment field does not show up. Dpoll has some bugs, at least for the mobile user.

There are so many ways to stay in touch with each other.
I like the internet, the possibilities it gives but I do not believe it made people more social. It would be nice to find a sweet surprise in the letterbox instead of bills and folders.

Steempeak brought us something new.
If it will benefit me, solve my problem only time can tell. One thing is sure all these hives, the numbers, the lack of tags and limits set to it's use - if it comes to posting in a community - are not a plus. What we could before is no longer possible.

At times joining a contest is good for making new friends.
It's a way to find Steemians who like to share with you and are open for a chat if you take the time to read and comment.

Good old Partiko still works if it comes to posting and commenting.
It is my favorite app.
If people take the time to join a contest it's nice if it's read and someone left a response that fits.
I know commenting isn't always easy, at times "thanks" is enough. It's hard to keep talking if there's nothing more to say.

Another dpoll visitor who took the time to leave me a comment.
Some may find it disturbing if I say "thank you for your vote" I find it annoying if I read a one-line poll and have to write down my own answer and never hear/read about it anymore.
A poll is a question asked for a reason - not out of lazy ness - and the answers or end result should be shown in some way.

I know the internet takes time, eats time.
Especially for me. I have a slow connection and am a mobile phone use only. I type with one finger. I am not slow but it still takes a lot of time.
The comment above doesn't look like 50 words? I can assure you it's even over 50 words. If you write about 6 lines you have a decent comment.

I do not only read those I am following.
I read what pops up first if I see the feed. If I search Ingo for new. I am no fan of "trending". Trending already has readers.

New Steemians deserve to be read, commented and upvoted too.
It doesn't cost you something to share some tips. It took me very long to find some people willing to answer my questions. In most cases, I was ignored. So Steemit stayed a big mystery to me and I left.

And here is number 10.
My response to this contest.
I commented way more but will not show it all here. My longest comment as far as I can remember is about 400 words. -Long comments make a good post too._

It's time for me to do something else, to delete all those screenshots, some house chores need to be done.
