How shall I call you? Granddad?
We never really talked. You knew things, saw a lot and even mentioned it but... well, your wife said it was nothing. She told you she knew what she did after all she was a midwife.
I wonder, I really wonder how you felt about that.
Did you fight it, looked for proof or simply let it go because it was not of your business?

You survived the war, the Japanese concentration camp and was not looking for trouble but... you are an army man, a soldier. They say the army fights for what is right. Right?
Did you? Did you fight for what is right or was shrugging your shoulders easier for you? You never stayed, left, you had to work, fight for the right of others, somewhere overseas. Did you forget you had a family or was it easier this way?

Do you remember that day?
Father's day 1966?
What happened after you had dinner and decided to lay down for a while?
What was it that finally ate you? Was it the food, the cold rice? Were those memories too much for you? Did you suffer from some injuries, was it impossible to get those thoughts out of your mind or was it the fat spoiled kid at your side that wanted you dead?

I know, I know the one who stood at my bed wasn't you. For all those years you didn't care and we're... busy.
