Today I got up early and went for a walk in a big mall. (Winter has set in over here so it's nice to be cozy and out of the cold while I walk.) You know... It's amazing what happens when you follow your feet... This time around I ended up at a movie theater of all places. Yeah! I live close by a MASSIVE mall and it's got EVERYTHING you can imagine... Including a movie theater!
Strangely enough the doors were open to the place so I entered. No one was there! I climbed the stairs to the top movie theater and walked inside. The chairs stared back at me in uter silence. I decided that this was a special and unexpected moment not to be wasted. Climbing to the top seats I sat down in the middle of the theater. I was absolutely ALONE and NO ONE knew I was there.
I don't find myself in this situation often. How about you? Have you ever had an entire movie theater to yourself? Was it strange? Or did you enjoy the solitude?
I decided that I was going to pause my morning walk. I was going to sit still in that huge quiet room and... MEDITATE. It was just too ironic to pass up this opportunity! This place was normally buslting with people, loud sounds, and flashing movie scripts... But this time it wasn't anything like that! It was abosultely s...t...i...l... So meditation it was!
For me meditation quiets my mind. It's a chance to tune out all the other voices out there and listen to my own for a change. It's a chance to connect with myself, take care of my spirit, and rest my mind. It was just the thing to do after the challenging week I've had!
I ended up zoning out for around 15 min. Every time my mind jumped to something I aquknoloedge it (good or bad) and released it clearing my mind before yet another thing would come to the surface of my consciencousness. Slowly but surely I could feel the stress and worry fall away. It felt like I could listen to my old self again! I was pleased and surprised at what lay there... Just bellow the surface of my awareness!
It was all those important things I didn't feel I had the time to deal with. It was intuitions and revelations. But there they were... Waiting patently for me to recognise them. I found myself sinking deeper into the quiet state of meditation and rest. Until...
Eventually I came back into the present reality. I had 10,000 steps to get before 10am! It was the last day of the #AutomaticWin Step Challenge! I smiled to myself, thinking about all of you out there making those steps happen! I felt refreshed and ready! This meditation session had honestly been one of the highlights of my week... (along with reading all of your eppic accounts of all you all's adventures!) and it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't followed my feet this morning!
How about you? When's the last time you took a quiet moment to STOP and hit the reset button? Just think for yourself or breath? I figure I need to do more of that! How about you!?
Meditation is key, I find, in focusing the spirit and the mind. As health consits of 4 active factores... Sprit, Mind, Body, and Special Focus! Living a healthy lifestyle is all about taking care of each of these aspects of your health! So many people strugle to find the time to focus on their health. I have found that the solution is to intentionally create open spaces in your every day life. (Space, I have found, is what your mind uses to focus on what's important by the way...)
So! there you have it! A short snipet of my steps in the morning!
