Inside a Psychopath's Mind: Can Psychopaths Feel Empathy, If They Try?

Generally, we are familiar with words like a psycho, psychopath, etc in our social life. Although we called any type of killer as a psychopath, they have a specific definition. Psychopaths are not a crazy person. Rather, they behave in some cases very intelligent, natural and very interesting.

Although psychopaths are called psychotic or psychopathic, they are not at all. A psychoscopic brain has genuinely ailment or abnormalities, and the sociopaths are also very anti-social, and they want to remain silent.

On the other hand, psychopaths have lead into a grievous life in our society and workplace. From the beginning, it is believed that psychopaths are a very Cold head murderer. They do not feel any kind of regret for their work. Where Psychopaths lost their wish knowledge, it is assumed that psychopaths are do any misinformed by knowingly in their social life. They don't feel any sympathy for others. But in a recent study, this concept has proved to be very wrong.

Why do we understand the pain of others?

People have always try to find an explanation behind unusual phenomena. Psychopaths do such infamous torture that ordinary people can not explain with the reason. So they think, surely the psychopaths are far different from us. That is why "Psychopaths do not feel anything. They do not have the felt power of their brain ". In this way, we want to easily explain the incident by complaining of being mechanical on psychopaths.

When the infamous psychopath Edmund Kemper said after killed his sleeping mother with a hammer, "I wanted to see how it feels after to killed my mom," or when Jeffrey Dammer said that when i can see the internal organs of the body's to my victims, then my 'sex appeal' will active. then what is the thinking in common man?

These things which we can not feel in our mind and psychopaths do these very easily without any thinking. But why or how we are different from psychopaths?

Mirror Neuron effect

The Netherlands Institute of Neuroscience has been experimenting with psychopathic psychiatric conditions. They have shown through a research that how people feel sympathy. Sympathy refers to the feeling of other person's feelings. According to the institute's research, when we are happy with others' s sadness and happiness, we think of us in their place. Cingulate gyrus is a spinal part of our brain that covers Corpus callosum and this part raises our feelings. When we see someone suffer, this part of our brain becomes effective. Then the brain is given the hardships. Mirror neuron effect is reflected in the happiness and sorrow of others like a mirror and this is the reason for our sympathy.

They are similarly researching the brain of psychopaths. In 2013, they published a paper entitled "Reduced spontaneous but relatively normal deliberate vicarious representations in psychopathy.". Their research completely changed the concept of psychopaths.

Psychopaths have also Feelings

In this study of the Netherlands Institute of Neuroscience, nervous Christian Keisar and his team studied the brain of 18 psychopaths captured in prison. Each video is shown to each of them, were only seen two hands. The two hands sometimes show a friendly act or sometimes one hand try to hurt another hand. This way they try to show some more videos and try to audit their brain status. It can be proved that the same things can get emotion in common man but a psychopath does not create a stir on their head.

When the researchers took a different turn, the researchers instructed the psychopaths to feel sympathy for the character shown in the video. Then, surprisingly, psychopath's brains are also emotional in that same scenario. This proves that psychopaths can feel the pain of people, but usually, they do not want to do it. Their hands don't tremble to do any murder or any psychopath works because they don't want to tremble their hands deliberately.

If there is no problem in the psychopath's brain, then where is the problem?

It is very difficult to get the answer in one way. Sigmund Freud, a world-renowned psychologist said, "By knowing a mature psychopaths age and her childhood history, It can be assumed that what is the reason for this and why he does this? but it can't be possible to find out that a small child can be psychopaths in the future".

There have been doing much research on what could be the reason behind the rise of psychopaths. For example,

  • Primacy Of Psychopaths

Cesare Lombroso's physical structure of psychopaths CC0 Licensed

Italian criminal psychologist Cesare Lombroso said under the influence of Darwin theory, people have evolved from animals, but some people today can not completely change. There are still animals in them, which they reveal by killing others. He also believed that psychopaths have some marked physical properties - large eyes, stiff ears, crooked, flat forehead etc.

  • Hurt in the brain

A more reliable explanation than Lombroso's idea is that psychopaths have been victims of a serious accident in their life, which hit their brain. In addition to accidents, even bad memories of childhood can change their brain structure, causing them to feel embarrassed.

  • Adverse childhood

Anxiety to parents, one of the causes of psychopaths growing in the intolerable family. All the psychopaths in the world have a similarity - all their childhood was distorted. The broken family was associated with mental and physical persecution. Previously we knew psychopaths Admand Kampar killed his sleeping mother with a hammer, because his mother daily used to beat him with physical form, always kept him under severe control.

Again, we all know that America's infamous serial killer Albert Fisch, who used to eat meat after raping and killing children. But i think we are very few people know her childhood, the orphanage administrator nude him in front of everyone and start beating. Another psychopaths, William Bonin, was raped by other boys regularly in school.

For these reasons, we can easily understand that a man goes to psychopaths because they have not learned any sympathy for their childhood. They grew up in an environment that did not give them the time to develop this quality.

But there are exceptions too. Such as serial killer Jeffrey Dummer and Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy lived with his grandmother and they upbringing him like their own child. But it is seen, Ted Bond did not have the father's identity. On the other hand, Dammar's family was good, but it is believed that in his childhood he was also abused by neighbors or others.

They Have Empathy Switches

Looking away from the sins of psychopaths in one's life, it can be understood that they just do not feel passion, rather they are very emotionally consumed. Researchers who say hyperdimensional How much pain a child feels, when he lost his misguided knowledge, can kill his mother?

However, there is no way to justify the crime of psychopathy. Social abuse and psychological problems can make a person psychopath. Recalling Freud, it is said that not all children growing up in a bad environment are psychopaths, but children of all well-to-do families are not good people.

Then what is the punishment for them?

Since the psychopaths do not feel sorry for anyone in their own interest, it is not logical to punish them in the conventional rules. Because the punishment does not have any meaning for them. Two researchers at the University of Barcelona, Malle Slater, and Maivy Tsnez are trying to sympathize with psychopaths. According to them, "If the parts of the brain are activated, which are related to our emotions, psychopaths can also be changed".

With that goal, they have established a correctional order. There they said the psychopaths, they need to act in their (psychopaths) victims positions. That's acting through the real environment tells them how it feels to be a Victim.

Psychopathic is not a particular mental disorder that can not be cured. It depends more on the child's socialization. This new knowledge about psychopaths will make people more aware. The last address of psychopaths will not always be scarred if they are brought to a proper mental change.
