When I started my Reiki journey I was given 5 Reiki Principles by my Master to practice them every day, as
Just For Today:
I wouldn't angry whatever happens around me
I wouldn't worry about anything because Universe takes care about me
I would be grateful to everybody and for everything
I would be honest to me all people around
I would be kind to all people around and myself
(yeh, it's not classical interpretation but anyway everyone could start with them. )

They sounded very reasonable but honestly speaking it wasn't so easy to follow them. I could be honest and hurt people with my honest words. I could be host and worry about something. I couldn't find my balance until I saw one wise proverb "No one could eat an elephant in one meal, but everyone could eat it bite-by-bite"
And I start to implement those rules one by one. One week I followed only the first rule and allowed to break others. After one week then following one rule became a habit, I added second one, then 3rd. Until I completely balanced myself, and only then I could start to learn Reiki.
Since then I went a long way in Reiki, I became the Master, I got students and few them already Masters too. I still continue my journey into.
