[Game First Impression] Fortune499

Fortune 499 is one of the games that plays better than it looks and puts you into an experience more impactful than the sum of its parts... At least that's my first impression.

This is my first "First Impression post." Looking at my backlog I decided to play as many games of them and think whether to try finishing them or not, as many of them are from Indiegala you can guess the chances.

A Humble Trove Game: Fortune499

Fortune499 is one of the Humble Bundle Trove games. It was given for free-to-all for limited amount of time last week. I was lucky to download it. Because this game went beyond expectations!!

As an indie game, I loved everything from the simplistic art, the Rock-Paper-Scissors battle system and character interactions.

The Fortune Teller

You play as Cassie, a fortune teller who uses cards to predict the future. Her predictions caused the success of the company she worked in. But she was the first in the list to get fired because the company can't explain her job to the higher-ups.

So Cassie has to prove her usefulness in this quirky game where Magic & Monsters are real.

I liked the game pacing and the tutorial didn't feel forced. With the battle system being explained from the simplest parts going all the way up.

All of characters dialogue lines.(in the hour I played,) fit well in the story as well as in the game play. The game teaches you how to play it in a playful way.

Rock, Paper, Scissors

The idea of the game is that you have a fortune telling deck. When you draw a card it might be a Rock, Paper or Scissors Card. Depending on the cards you draw the probability of your opponent using the move increases and then you have to choose your move to play. The character who wins the turn gets to attack.

This system offers uncountable possibilities & I'm sure with how well designed the beginning of the game is. It'll get increasingly complex as you go on.

Final Thoughts

Fortune499 auto saves. I was worried because when I wanted to stop playing I didn't find the save button. But the game will get you back to last point you where in when you quit through the menu.

My first impression on this Game that it's very inspiring and well-designed.

Will I Try To Complete The Game?

Most likely "YES!"

Now what are your thoughts?
