My Memories With CHRONO TRIGGER

The timeless RPG of time. The game in many people's top three all-time favorites. Chrono Trigger was one of the first RPGs I played and had many memories with it.

WARNING: Some Spoilers

But only for early game. And I keep them at minimum.

A Short while ago I bought the PC Version of Chrono Trigger. After SquareEnix released their final patch and made this version of the game compete with the quality of other versions. (Except the NDS one.)

When I started writing on Steemit, one of my self-imposed rules was to keep my talk about games I don't legally own at minimum. Maybe that's why I don't make weekly reviews.

Now I can proudly say:
"I OWN A CHRONO TRIGGER COPY"

~~~~~~~~~~~
I haven't started playing it yet. A game this great don't deserve unfocused play-through. So in this post, I'll talk about my previous encounters with Chrono Trigger.
How it All Started
I touched on that in my PS1 childhood & Final Fantasy Journey posts. My cousins gifted me a PS1 Disk Box containing both Chrono Trigger & Final Fantasy IV.
My English was so bad at the time I understood nothing of FFIV story. On the other hand, Chrono Trigger had Dragon-Ball-like art, fluid animation and with how its story was presented I understood the important bits. As a child early teenager the story felt good, different and fun.
"That's only one world."
My PlayStation disk wasn't used many times. It was slow, the disk was scratched and I basically spent two hours each time on the introduction festival. Enjoying my time as the silent hero and the girl he just bumped into.
At the trail one/two hour(s) into the game. The younger me was amazed and truly scared of how each NPC stated my devious actions accurately.
"You're allowed to stay a silent hero,
Everything you DID will be used against you."
That moment defined Role Play Gaming for me.
From that time. I'm not playing only for myself, I take my character's identity and behave as I think they'll behave in their own world. For me, RPG is not "just a game."
Age of Emulation
At some point in my life, I was introduced to emulation. After I emulated many GBA games. I found out that Chrono Trigger was originally a Super Nintendo game and it was the reason I started SNES emulation. (That or some Dragon Ball game.)
I didn't finish Chrono Trigger the first Time. I was stuck many times and needed to grind sometimes. But with each hour I spend on the game: The characters, the world, the timeline. feels more lively and Epic!
Just how awesome this X attack is?!
At that time, I was like everyone I knew in my country, the games were cheap so I didn't know that emulating them without owning them first was wrong. Now I don't pirate games as much. I have an ever-changing self-imposed ruleset toward piracy. But that's not our topic today.
From the Screen to The Heart
Each time I played Chrono Trigger I feel the urgency to save the princess, the need to break from the jail, the dilemma of being a young man in a body of a frog, the evils around that must perish & the enthusiasm of an inventor finding a semi-working robot.
The last FMV I reached when playing the PS1 ver. (Spoiler)
The first time I finished the game was while playing the SNES version. After losing someone important of the party I was at loss, as everybody in the party was. I didn't finish many optional quests but the one I did was the most important one, the final thing to do before fighting Lavos.
The music also helped. The battle system is my favorite ATB system. Everything had a unique feel that you want to keep in your heart. The game even starts beautifully!
"Good morning Crono."
For whom the Bells tolls...
It tolls for thee.
--- "No man is an Island."
When I finally was ready for the final boss, it was a great fight. Lavos deserves all the hype he got in the game because IT is too hard to beat! I'm so excited to try him on again. Crono & Lavos are timeless characters, you can't not enjoy a timeless game again!
Final Thoughts
I loved CHRONO TRIGGER!
Here I am hoping to fall in love with it again,
after the sadly glitched PC version has been fixed.
I think all of you readers have at least heard the name before, what do you think about Chrono Trigger. Would you like me to review it or make a series of posts about it as I did with FFVIII?
