The road to steemfest - choices

Hi all,

It's already end of August now, and I don't have the plane tickets for Krakow yet. My colleague just announced that he would have to go to a conference on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, which happens to be the same week (almost) as Steemfest 3. This is bad news, because it means that he can't cover me at work and I'd have to work at least 4 hours per day while being in Poland. It's not impossible, but it still sucks a little because :

  1. I plan on partying (DUH, it's not called steemFEST for nothing!), and I didn't plan on having to respond to clients with a clear head after all that festing.

  2. I have never been to Poland and really wanted to use my time to get to know the surroundings.

But again, it's not impossible to make it work. My main sacrifice will be having to be the one working at times when other people party, tour around, or sleep. But life is all about sacrifice and making choices, right?

But let's talk about financial sacrifices.

Steemfest is not cheap, and 2 tickets for me and my "half orange" represent a lot of money....No, really, I mean a LOT. I still don't know how I'll make it work.

Paint more

My plan is to get off my butt and start painting more surfboards. I have been painting and selling those in souvenir stores around Bocas to make a little extra cash, but I have been lazy lately and haven't been painting that much. I guess Steemit is also the culprit, since I spend a lot more time writing or video editing instead of painting nowadays. So, I will focus more on earning Fiat for a while, sine the crypto world is letting me down with earnings.

Give up some pleasures

Any other way I could save money? Yes, by not eating out as much as I do now. I have to say I don't usually do it a lot, usually only once per week, but sometimes I get lazy to cook and choose to buy pizza instead of cooking. That's money easily saved for something more productive.

Finally, if you've been watching my last videos, I've given myself a fitness challenge: Get ripped before the end of the year, get a 6-pack and being able to do pull-ups without any help. I've been at it for over a week now, and I'm taking this quite seriously. I can already notice my progress, and part of it means laying off of the booze during the week.

Yup, you've read that right, no more wine or cerveza for me during week days. On the weekend I allow myself the luxury of some wine with dinner. Well, you wouldn't believe how much I save by doing this! Not that I'm an alcoholic or anything (I'm European, don't judge!), but my hubby and I easily go through a bottle of wine every 2 days. That means $6 - $7 every other day, so I basically save $21/week by choosing water instead.

My friend Manou and I at my favorite restaurant in Bluff beach

That's all I can come up with now. I don't really shop much or splurge on other things, so that will have to do for now!

Let's see how much I can make between today and next week when I'll post an update about this topic.

Cheers, and have a fabulous day everyone!
