With Pierre expected down from Ottawa today it was up early to get some chores done so as to be passage ready for The Admiral's arrival. First order of business was to get diesel. After topping up the heater and Makina's tanks the jugs were all emptied and ready for refilling.
Called Racheal, at the Shipyard, and set up an appointment for 9:30. Cast off the mooring and headed up to the gas dock to be sure to be there when the fellow from the Shipyard arrived. The wind was mild this morning which helped in my solo docking. The docking impressed even me. 😉
With the diesel securely stowed it was back to the mooring ball to change the fenders and docking lines to the starboard for the docking at Zwicker's Wharf.
Pierre called just as Makina was cast off the mooring ball. He was in town and said that he would meet me at Zwicker's to take my lines as Makina was brought in to her reserved berth.
Having the luxury of Pierre's car we set about to get supplies in. First stop was the cannabis store. One must have their priorities right when planning a longer passage. Then on to the grocery store where we stocked up on enough supplies for a week or more. With the supplies stowed we thought it would be a good idea to get some more propane for the stove, even though the tank in use was not totally empty.
To get a refill required a trip to Bridgewater, which is a little less that 20kms away. It seemed like a good idea to have a back up tank, so bought a new one and headed back to Makina with two full tanks. It will be nice to have a backup on board.
On the drive to Bridgewater we passed a home with the most unique rhododendrons ever seen by me. Just have to share this award winning picture by the Admiral.
Pierre, graciously, invited me out for lunch. We both had wonderfully fresh haddock.
We then headed back to Makina. It was nap time for me. Pierre sat in the summer sun in the cockpit reading with me counting Z's in the forward berth.
Awoke very refreshed and headed to the showers while Pierre went for a walk. With us both back on Makina again we discussed our plans. We decided that a good destination for tomorrow would be Liverpool which was about 50NM south along the coast. We would play it by ear where we stop for the night. There are a few options.
Regular readers may be interested to know that we received a whatsapp text from James, who first entered my life in Kingston, ON last summer. We last parted company in Halifax; where we had been neighbours at a wet berth at Armdale Yacht Club over the winter.
His text said that he was 150NM off Nova Scotia on route to Bermuda. God's speed to him!
It had been a long day for both of us so it was early to the bunks in anticipation of tomorrow's departure. Until then...
