Last night we had made plans with Neil, Pierre's friend in Shelburne, to take him sailing if there was wind the following day. Sure enough there ample wind so upon awakening we prepared our day with that in mind.
We first went ashore for showers and a load of laundry. While the laundry was in the dryer we went to the restaurant which Neil had taken us to last night. There we had a wonderful breakfast of Eggs Benedict with fresh salmon. It was as wonderful a meal as last night's.
We made a stop at a Sunday Market which we came across on our return to the Yacht Club, purchasing some local wine, pastries and Pierre a T-Shirt. Once back on Makina we prepped for a sail and dropped Neil a text to join us when ready. He came along about 45 minutes later and once he was brought on board we were on our way out of Shelburne Harbour. The wind was coming directly into the harbour so we had to make a number of tacks on our way out. One thing that can be said for sailing is that it can tone the body.
It was a good workout and an enjoyable sail. Once past the harbour's lighthouse we started back into the long harbour running with the wind.
We hoped some might be watching from shore as we made up for yesterday's fiasco with the tangled propeller and brought Makina as close to our mooring ball under sail as anyone could ask of us.
Not to be outdone by last night's wonderfiul repas, Neil took us to Mr. Fish's in appreciation of the day. Although not as fancy decor wise as last night's establishment the fish was delightful. How could it not be with the name of the restaurant being Mr. Fish! 😆
Just when we thought the day may have come to an end, Neil said he would show us the other side of the harbour from land as opposed to the view from the water we had just shown him. There is a Provincial Park almost a walk away from Shelburne and it would be a lovely place to camp. It was lovely just to walk through.
After a nice digestive walk through the park we headed back to Makina making plans to join up with Neil tomorrow. A fine day was had by all!
