Even before purchasing Makina, exercise had been a regular part of my life. Yoga practice has come and gone at different times, even teaching a beginner's classes in the 90's for the city.
Biking also became a daily activity in the new century; putting in as much as 10-15kms a day. It became my keep me sane daily activity during covid, while caregiving my 96 year old mother... even biking on clear winter days.
It came, therefore, as a surprise to me how much more exercise one gets by simply being on a boat. For starters you are going up and down a four rung ladder throughout the day coming and going from the cabin. When sailing one is pulling on lines and cranking on winches.
Here on my mooring there is a 1 mile return trip to shore and back by rowing the dingy. This had been done daily, with the exception of yesterday which had 35km/hr gusts that did not sound like much fun to be fighting against on the trip back from shore.
This phenomena has become affectionately known as Boat-er-cise or Boga. Today had me going to shore to check to see if my medication from Halifax had arrived yet.
It seems that the clerk in Halifax had not done their job properly. There should have been a QR Code sent to an email address to help with the tracking. My Daughter said that they did not even ask for an email address. At the Lunenburg Post Office they were at a bit of a loss. After some rumaging around it was decided, finally, that it had probably not arrived yet and that they would keep their eyes open for a small parcel tomorrow. There are still two days until a postal strike is expected.
After a yummy quiche for breakfast at the Laughing Whale Cafe, it was back to Makina. Finally the weather looks to be changing.
Starting to get a little anxious to explore some of the Mahone Bay islands stewarded by MICA, however it would be nice to get my meds taken care of first. That means it should be another day or two before leaving Lunenburg to explore Mahone Bay.
Another day of gaming, youtubing, snacking and napping until then it seems. āļøš
