As mentioned a couple of entries ago, we had remained at Zwicker's Warf for the ease of departure for the crew. Once on their way to Halifax that left me alone to get Makina out to her mooring ball in the harbour. That did not seem such a chore yet getting the dingy launched from its position on the forward deck would be another matter when done solo. Yet first things first.
Awaking early, the harbour was as calm as glass. Judging from the weather forecast this would not be for long so the plan was put in motion. The electricity was disconnected as was the water and the lines cast off. It was calm enough to be able to push Makina gently away from the docks and slowly back her out into the harbour then turn and slowly move out toward the mooring ball.
Having previously placed the boat hook in the cockpit, Makina was brought slowly alongside and the mooring lines brought aboard first try. Placing her in idle the lines were then taken forward and secured to the forward hitches. Success!
With that small trial over with it was time to relax, as the wind picked up a bit, with the town of Lunenburg as a backdrop.
It was a real early summer day with the sun strength demanding sunscreen. The rest of the day was spent relaxing both above deck and below. Did some gaming, more binging on the Joe Rogan AI D&D Sessions, snacking and some good wholesome napping.
After awakening from a nap in late afternoon my attention was brought to how to bring the dingy off the deck and launch her. She had never been moved since purchasing it in Quebec City last September and it had been placed on deck with the help of the two lads who delivered it.
A plan began to formulate. The sheet which normally is used to raise the mainsail could be used to hoist the dingy up and over the side and then lowered down to the water using the winch on the mast normally used with the sail.
With a plan in place more relaxing, gaming and YouTube binging continued until passing out for an early night. The dingy's launch could wait until tomorrow.
