Passage from LaHave to Port Medway

Had a wonderful sleep at the Bakery's Wharf. They were starting to open for business once we had breakfast and came ashore. After some interesting chats and stocking up on more of the Bakery's delicious products we started yesterday's passage.

In the picture of our chart below the pink circle in the top right is Lunenburg and the one below it, to the south west, is LaHave. Like yesterday our course is marked by the yellow tracking line.

From our course it may be obvious to some that we had to work with a wind which was pretty much in our face. This took a number of tacks throughout the day.

The sea had a good swell due to a strong wind but with sails up Makina did a fine job of cutting through it as opposed to bouncing on top as is the case when under engine power.

Off the Nova Scotian Coast

The further we sailed off the coast the stronger the gusts became, so as the day progressed we shortened them.

There was one downside of all of our tacking and that was how below standard our stowing of items had become. The cabin was a quagmire of items tossed to and frow with a compliment of dish detergent layered below.

In Late afternoon we decided on Port Medway as our destination. It looked like it would require anchorage so we wanted to find a place before dark. It was a lovely sheltered port and we were glad to be in off the toss after an energy demanding day.

We were both anxious to try the wonderful meat pies that we had purchased at The Bakery in LaHave. We put the chicken pie in the oven, prepared some broccoli with grated cheese and crisps on the side. To say it was delicious would be an understatement. Devine may be more to the point.

Reenergized with the lovely meal it was soon after sundown that we made way to our bunks; too tired to even get this post written until this morning (June 12th). Now rested we are ready for another day on the toss.
