It did not seem right to wake the Birthday Boy and my Daughter post birthday celebrations, so they were left to sleep in. Sleep in they did, not rising until 11:00. We decided to stay in paradise for another day and that evening we had the lovely steak dinner that had been the Birthday Boy's original request. It was a hit all around!

It ended up being an early night for me as well as the crew.

The Plan was to do some solo-sailing today. The forecast was expecting winds to come up at about noon. Thought to motor until that point. Did a solo casting off with my Daughter standing by just in case and that went smoothly.
Once out of the harbour, though, the fog set in and the wind never really picked up.

Took Makina offshore in the hopes of not being on the same course as anyone using auto-course of Navionics. When approaching Lunenburg Habour it was more intense as the channel that is dredged is fairly narrow. My Daughter and Son-In-Common-Law were sitting forward of the dodger with fog horn in hand.
My daughter reported she could hear people talking. My Son-In-Common-Law sounded the horn; which was replied to... and then out of the fog came a fully sailed ketch which had to be going at 5+ knots. They veered to show us port and gave a wave like it was a clear summer day as we passed at baseball throwing distance. We were shocked.
We made Zwickers Wharf soon after, where a berth was marked reserved for Makina. The staff had gone prior to our arrival. Glad we were to be out of the fog. Well at least not sailing in it; though Lunenburg is fogged in.
The Kids offered to take me out for a belated Father's Day meal. We settled on the Fish Shack.
Back to Makina for some repairs to the Invertor and some gaming before bunking down.
