The crew arrives

July 8, 2025

Awoke to a terrestrial downpour. It had actually rained itself dry. The rest of the day saw increments of better weather. At least the rain had stopped when heading for the shower at around 10:00. Lounged around a bit until a call came in from my Daughter. They were scheduled to arrive in Lunenburg at 17:30. Bobby, the taxi driver, should then have them in Shelburne an hour later.

Spent the later afternoon tidying up and then had a look over the charts.

Course from Shelburne to Lockeport, Nova Scotia

Lockeport is fairly familiar to me now, having stayed there now two times on two different vessels. It is showing as a passage of just shy of 18 Nautical Miles. The wind is forecast to be from the east. We should be able to head out the harbour on a broad reach and maybe getting some running with the wind towards much of the way to Lunenburg; though experience has shown that the wind can change bouncing off headlands and the like along that coastline.

The Kids ran a little late due to heavy traffic leaving Halifax, yet Bobby had them in Shelburne a little after 20:00.

Having eaten most of supplies during my calorie build up mentioned previously the Kids settled in while the local pizza parlour was visited for party food with a nice local bottle of Rosé to wash it all down.

Pizza Party!

We set up our machines. Some for gaming, some for blog posting and some as a sleeping pill. 😉

The new crew settles in.

There is still some paperwork required for the Yacht Club before tomorrow's departure, so perhaps this entry can be finalized by saying it's great having my new crew aboard!

May the wind be at your back!
