I am 41 and I believe in Santa

I believe in Santa

I am 41 years old and I still believe in Santa Claus. No not the guy in the big red suit, but the spirit of giving that Santa inspires. I been seeing a thing on social media telling people to stop lying to their kids about Santa. Saying to tell children Santa doesn't exist. Now that IMO is a lie. Santa does exist. In every person is a potential Santa.

Hear me out

The world is a cruel place at times. But there is also kindness and generosity. Looking at a sun set or a newly born child and you can believe there is magic in the world. So what is the harm of bringing a little magic to a young childs life? There is no harm in it and if done right can be a way to teach children to bring a little magic into other people's lives.

I allowed my children to believe in Santa

As they got older and they started asking questions, I brought them in on the secret of Santa. What is the secret? Santa isn't one person, Santa is a bunch of people who anonymously give to others without any expectations or recognition except making someone elses life a little more special.

I taught them that not just during Christmas

But through out the year. Helping others in need is one of the ways we play Santa. A meal, clothing, a little spare change, paying off a layaway or even something as simple as an emergency blanket. But when they were brought into the secret they also became a Santa. I would have them pick out an angel from the angel tree to give to others in need. They have also been known to slip an anonymous present under loved ones trees of a special gift that they didn't think anyone knew they wanted. Those special giving without anything in return is what makes a Santa.

So let the little ones believe in some holiday magic

Then bring them into the secret and allow them to being holiday magic to others. If the world did this we would be better off because kindness spreads. So be kind this holiday season and be Santa to at least one person in need, what you get out of it is much more than the person receiving the gift.
