CrowdScience News. Volunteer project Einstein@Home discovers first millisecond pulsar visible only on Gamma Rays

Einstein@Home is a citizen science project where volunteer crunchers sieve throw the data to find continuous gravitational waves (main search) and milliseconds pulsars (secondary search).

Data sources are:

  1. Nobel prize award winning LIGO research installation
  2. Arecibo radio observatory.
  3. Orbital PLANK gamma ray observatory.

Volunteers attach their CPU and GPU computational resources to Einstein@Home using BOINC program. One could also mine Gridcoin cryptocurrency while searching for GW and pulsars.

Check project news and official scientific press-release for more details.
