Internet slaves...or freedom on the airwaves

I didn’t have the internet when I was growing up, and hardly even knew what a computer was until the 80s when my wife came home one day and told me what her friend had been saying about them, and should we get one.
I wasn’t that keen on computers at that time though, and thought them some new gizmo to waste my money on when I had so many other things to give my time to.
It was ten years later and my marriage had gone bust that I bought my first computer in some shop on the high street. Didn’t know what I was asking for but wanted something to do writing with, a PC really, but they gave me an Amiga games machine that I took home and played Lemmings and Blobo on and saved my writing to floppy disc. It was my introduction to computing and the internet which I found beyond me.

After taking some courses on IT which I flopped at but which grew me somehow a little bit so that I could find my way around the intriguing thing I was meddling with, I finally got a real computer and went on the internet and joined facebook and talked to people all over the world and began to know things I’d never known before.
It wasn’t long before the authorities realised what a great communication device this was, and began to manage it, and to insinuate itself into it in machine learning; and other things too that were devised by clever people to say what the masters wanted us all to hear.
Crazy, I know, but I’ve seen its transition from when it began, where it was shared, to now where it is controlled.
Yes, it’s so hard to see it when you’re on the other side and feeling like a loser with a sore back and bruised everything else that’s getting you down about it all, and nothing you can do about it but pray.
And yet, in amongst it all are truths that flash like beacons to be known in amongst all the subliminal messaging.

And then there are rules:
Rule 1: don’t believe all you see on the internet.
Rule 2: where there are rules there are restrictions.
Seems like there's an awful lot of fighting going on in the world right now, a huge upheaval and I’ve been wondering: are we an audience to an outrage?
Rule 3: be prepared to have your preferences used against you.
Rule 4: respect, is a coat well worn in somebody else's house.
Rule 5: personalities rule social media...
Rule 6: never listen to a bot giving you subliminal messages to influence your brain into thinking you should give up
Rule 7: never reveal your heart to a writer without first consulting your crystal ball, or all your secrets will be given up to be known for the seeing, and your heart will be shown for all to see
Rule 8: if you’ve got this far, you no longer need rules...
Rule 9: without the comfort of angels, where would we be?
Yes, this is wales coming through at 22 59 from the comfort of his own lap top and on the internet.

Can you hear me here on the internet?

Has the internet saved us, or doomed us?
Answers on a postcard or something, and send to whatever you believe in to have it given back to you wherever you go and in whatever form you take.

All they have is bots. What we have is love. I know which one I’m voting for.

I am beginning to forget what I am talking about, but it’s okay, I can always scroll down to find something else to talk about.

Climate change is a winner.

The next difference will come about in a minute to cut you off from all that you have ever known. But until then, carry on talking to yourselves.

Rule ten: always remember rule 4.

But, whatever, don’t chill in the star receipts where a clue to your soul is the feeling that you do feel, that you have to go with what is in your heart, how you feel about someone; first impressions count, where you just know what someone's made of the first time you meet them; what's in their heart; what they're made of. But how can you tell what is the truth looking out from the internet?
Sometimes you just know, because they don't hide anything; they're open to you and you to them.
Friends are made in this way, and lovers, where strangers are broken open with the happenstance of meeting; perhaps with a lightness of being; a clue to their very soul; and a clue to yours...

I was thinking: should I have a burger, or should I not have a burger after seeing an advertisement on Twitter that showed a delicious image of a burger.
Yes, I’m selling this, what have you got to offer for it said the image?
Not a lot, it’s become quite common lately, and’s lost most of its value I replied.

We are all satellites, expanding within our range; and as our range grows bigger, we expand the more, if the internet allows it; and if not then we go around in circles.

And I’m not technical at all, most of the time I can’t even turn my phone on, I’m telling you, the bloody thing gets on my mind and rattles me up something awful.

Rule 11: drama always gets you down so don’t go near it.
Anyway, lately I’ve had 50% less internet connections to what I’m used to and feel like writing a strong letter of objection to the ones in power over it to say: I am not amused by this

There are some that would say that the internet is a form of mind control, and I wouldn’t blame them one little bit.

From what I can tell, the internet is not that free, it is managed by bots with agendas that come from the owners of whatever site you’re on.

I remember what it was like before the internet, before mobile phones even, where your only news came from the TV or newspapers or word of mouth. There was no Google, so if you wanted to find out something you had to go to the library and hope to find it in a book.
We’ve come a long way since the internet was first enabled, but it’s not as free as it could be. Here in the UK if you can see past the bullshit then there are nuggets or truth, but they are mixed up in all the digital propaganda and have to be sifted.

These days I’m turning more and more to steemit for expression, and getting paid for it at the same time.

These are just some of my thoughts about the internet and I hope you have enjoyed them.
