From St. Lucia the 1oz silver Loving Couple coin is another great piece from the EC8 series.
Since 2018 the Scottsdale Mint has been producing coins for the EC8(Eastern Caribean 8) encompassing 8 Caribean Island groups in the ECCB (Eastern Caribean Central Bank) who governs currency for these Island Countries. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Montserrat.
Saint Lucia is a small island Country in the eastern Caribbean and part of the West Indies. Known for it's amazing beaches, valcanic mountains, hiking trails, water falls and exclusive restaurants, Saint Lucia has become a tourist destination.
Saint Lucia has an interesting history including 14 battles between England and France over control of the island. It is also one of only two sovereign states named after a woman, Ireland being the other. I was checking out their Wiki page and found out some cool things about this island nation that most people don't even know is there.
The obverse side features a frosted center with a side view of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a laurel wreath. The shiny outer rim is inscribed with EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK on the top, QUEEN ELIZABETH II on the bottom, .999 SILVER on the left and TWO DOLLARS on the right. This is the standard design for all of the EC8 series coins and was created by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The Reverse side features a silhouette of a man and woman holding hands on the beach in the center bottom of the coin. There is some beach vegetation on the left and the right with two volcanic mountains, known as the Pitons, in the background. The inscription on the top reads St. Lucia with 2022 just under it.
