Remember that time you were born?
Not likely!
But the pre-conscious memories formed before, during and after birth can and do impact on the rest of your life.
Subconsciously, you remember and the emotional and energetic effects are imprinted in the cellular memory of your body.
Your birth story is unique and how you came into the world is reflected in the development of your body, brain and senses.
Whatever was going on for you during that time colours how you relate to the world and the core beliefs that drive your experience of reality.
As a developing baby, you were conscious right from the start.
An example of this is how babies can recognise lullabies from when they were in the womb as demonstrated in this study:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131030185525.htm
However, during your time in the womb and for several months after (the 4th Trimester), you had no concept of self or separation from mum – and the world.
While you had your own blood supply, during your time in the womb, you picked up all of the emotional signals from your mum.
Hormones such as adrenalin, serotonin and oxytocin all passed through the placenta. This meant that if your parents were experiencing states such as worry, anger, fear, stress, grief through pregnancy, you would also have experienced these emotions, without having any idea of the cause.
The physical events for both you and your mother leading up to, during and after the birth can have massive repercussions. Here are some examples of how that can play out:
A baby conceived to loving, supporting parents and having an easy birth could go through life feeling supported and finding it easy to start new things
A baby deemed to be ‘stuck’ and artificially induced with oxytocin could grow up easily stressed and always feeling rushed. They often prefer to make decisions slowly and be prone to procrastination
An unwanted baby feels the effects of the mothers shock in the womb and could live feeling rejection, worthlessness, anxiety and like they don’t belong. If they were a surprise initially, but then the mother wanted the baby and loved it from then on, these feelings would be much less profound, or even non-existent
A baby born with the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck could end up with a fear of being confined or an obsession with strangulation
Being a failed abortion could be especially traumatic. This happened to Saddam Hussein’s story and there is speculation that it was also the case with Hitler
Here are a couple of examples from people that I have worked with (they are changed slightly to protect anonymity)
A man who was frustrated that he found it incredibly difficult to make money and progress in his chosen career, while his twin brother seemed to just soar through life, getting great opportunities and making money easily. When we explored their birth, we found that he was born first and being born was a struggle, as he had to push and force his way through the birth canal. Then, it was his brothers turn and he just slid out in a relaxed and easy way.
Using a process called Matrix Birth Reimprinting, we created the experience of him understanding that he had been heroic in the birth and had paved the way, so he was now able to be a pioneer in life. However, it no longer had to be difficult now that he had this understanding.
A woman struggled with being in large groups of people. It was especially a problem if she had to speak to them all or all eyes were on her and she had a wedding speech lined up, which was terrifying her. Although she was better now (especially when socially lubricated by alcohol), she had been painfully shy as a child.
She knew that she had been born in a hippy community and that the whole group had been invited in to witness her birth. When we carried out the Matrix Birth Reimprinting process, we connected with her baby self being born. She had been overwhelmed by the amount of people that had been there, all watching her, when all she wanted was to be with her parents. We released the emotional effects of this using tapping and visualisation techniques, so that she would no longer have a freeze response when faced with lots of people looking at her. We also carried out some emotional release work on key events through her childhood where she had felt this way.
One result was that she was confidently able to deliver a great speech at the wedding.
Another area that is really important to look at is how the bonding process, or lack of it affects development. Human babies are the most helpless in the animal kingdom when born. Therefore, they are naturally programmed to bond with the mother and father to increase their chances of survival.
The best situation in most cases for a new baby is lots of skin to skin and eye to eye contact with the mother (and then father) for an hour or more after birth. This releases oxytocin (the love hormone) in both the baby and the parents, which creates a very strong bond. It also begins an important development in the brain, leading to the ability to create strong emotional bonds throughout life.
The period just after birth is the ideal time for the bonding process to occur. However, the opportunity is not lost if it is missed at this stage. The Cingulate Gyrus, the area of the brain that is stimulated by the bonding process can be activated at any time.
Babies and parents that miss the initial bonding opportunity can catch up later, given plenty of love and attention. It takes around three months in this case.
Fortunately, the importance of bonding is becoming increasingly understood and in most cases, babies have that bonding time with mum and maybe dad as well. However, this wasn’t the case until relatively recently and it was standard practice for the baby to be taken away to be cleaned, weighed and even held upside down and smacked. This means that the first experience of the outside world was a terrifying one, which could be the seed of many limiting beliefs, including that the world is not a safe place to be!
The absence of a good bonding experience can lead to predisposition to many issues. Fpr example:
· Depression
· Substance Abuse
· Eating Disorders
· Child/Adult Suicide
· Eczema/Asthma
· Aggression/Violence/Sexual Issues
· Disconnection/Separation
· Mental Disorders
· Anxiety/Worry
So, if you suspect that issues in your life might be a result of birth or other pre-conscious trauma, what can be done? While there are many treatments and techniques that can be of benefit regarding the above symptoms, without getting to the core of the issue, they could just come back in a different form?
Matrix Birth Reimprinting is a beautiful process that can be used to clear negative patterns at or around birth and reimprint a more supportive birth memory. It can even cause the participant to experience the emotional and physical/chemical effects of bonding, which can be completely life changing if they have never had this before.
This process can benefit anybody who has been born!
As well as resolving issues in your own birth. It can also be used to clear any issues for both Mums and Dads resulting from their own childrens births, including traumas that occurred or things that didn’t go according to plan.
For anyone that has tried many different therapies and techniques, yet still have an itch that they just can’t scratch, this could be a great way to escape the “therapy merry go round”. It doesn’t just enable you to find out where the issue might originate. It encourages resolution at a subconscious, energetic and physical level, which can entirely release it from your life. Often, you can receive great insights from the experience that can support you to create exciting new outcomes.
It’s never too late to have the perfect birth for you!
