Splinterlands – An Unusual and Lucky Battle!

Hello!

So, all you gaming aficionados out there would have undoubtedly tried out Splinterlands and must have enjoyed it to the hilt. Am I right? I must be. After all, I am one of the late adopters of the game and within a couple of months would have tried out a zillion combinations.

That is what’s interesting about the game. It has so many combinations in which you can play that you may continue playing for a lifetime and yet not unearth every combination. In other words, it would be unlikely that you would ever conclude that you have seen everything of the game.

And that is not even the cool thing. The cool thing is that you earn cryptocurrency (DEC) for playing the game and can buy in-game assets like tradeable cards, and those cards follow the demand-supply curve, which means that, if you have a rare card with you, its dollar value sky-rockets. How cool is that?

So, to sum it up, you play, you enjoy, you never stop discovering new strategies, you earn cryptocurrencies, you collect cards (or buy), and you have FIAT value for the cards! And all this for just playing the game. Am I right in thinking that it would be dumb not playing the game?

You decide.

Anyway, today, I wanted to touch upon one of the games that was so lucky for me and so unusual from an expectation perspective that I thought I would enumerate it over here.

Let’s get on with it.

Trying Out a New Strategy!

Now, I mentioned in the previous section that there are so many strategies that can be tried out on Splinterlands that we may have a tough time unearthing each. So, that was the case with me. I had a new summoner and few new monsters under the summoner which I wanted to try out for long but never got around doing it.

I am sure you want to know which summoner and which monsters, I am talking about. Well, here they are:

The higher mana requirement of Delwyn Draganscale had led me to not use it, especially that the Fire, Earth and other splinters required only 3 mana. But then I never tried it at all. So, how long could I continue that way? 😉

Game Plan

So, I finally gave in to trying the new summoner as well as the monsters. As I was selecting the summoner, it gave me the option of merging with Life splinter monsters, which I did. Those who use Life splinter would be aware of the Divine Healer and how it is beneficial in having her in the line-up. So, I happily chose her and the two new monsters along with few others.

Here was my lineup:

  1. Dragon Jumper
  2. Cave Slug
  3. Serpentine Mystic
  4. Divine Healer
  5. Goblin Chariot
  6. Silvershield Paladin

And I got ready for the battle.

Let the Battle Begin

Now, I was assuming that I would be in for a strong opponent who would decimate me in no time. Not only because of the opponent but because of my relative uncertainty of using the new monsters in the lineup. Could the Dragon Jumper been used in the second position? Possibly yes but I didn’t know if it had a snipe ability. So, maybe that would have been a bad idea, on second thoughts.

Anyway, all my apprehensions were soon put to rest as I realized that I would be going against a Life splinter.

The real surprise was the opponent's lineup. Take a look:

Now, there’s got to be some mistake. I presume, the person was either away from the laptop or was on a different page after clicking on the battle. So, by the time the player got back, there was hardly any time left, and he or she had to rush to choose the players. And that’s probably the story.

So, my presumably august line-up was against a much lighter opposition. ☹

And here’s how the battle progressed.

My Dragon Jumper took two hits and lost two health points. And then the opposition was decimated.

And that’s how the game ended. And here’s the confirmation of the outcome.

Well, you would agree that this was not the ideal test of the monsters or the summoner, so I would continue using them when the rules set and mana-cap are perfect. And if it gets to be a real thriller, then I will come back here and post.

Bye, for Now!

So, that’s it from me all you battle heads. I will see you soon.

Take care! 😊
