Hello, steemians from every part of the world. I'm Travis, one of the current @steemalliance WG. Today I want to ask a favor from the community and it's important because I'm doing this for the whole Steem community.
One of the main principles Steem Alliance chases is that the foundation is built not only for the community but also by the community as a whole. What the current WG expects is active participation from all of you and we believe the more community participates to build this foundation, the better we can drive this to its true value.
English is spoken by the majority of this whole community. Of course, it is. It's the world common language and is spoken everywhere. So, does that mean we are going to exclude non-english communities of this ecosystem to participate in this foundation thing? Of course, NOT.
To contribute to this essential principle, I created a new account @stall-transl. This account will only be used to resteem translations of the official announcements from @steemalliance, so that non-English speakers can learn what the current WG is up to at the moment. By gathering these translations in one place, the community will better locate where to look for whenever they need what they need. Problem is, I still haven't gathered any volunteers for translations, yet. So here's what I want.
Wanted
Anyone who has an ability to translate English to another language(s).
What you'll do
You'll be translating most (not all) of the posts on @steemalliance blog and documents the WG publishes. Translate, post on your account, and @stall-transl will resteem it.
It's not going to be too much, I say around 1 post/wk, and for documents, it's fewer. You can see how often we publish at @steemalliance blog.
Paid?
I'm sorry but it's a volunteer role, not paying you! However, though I can definitely show some gratitude with upvotes :)
How many wanted
I say a maximum of 3-4 steemians for each language.
This is because 1) as I said above, I cannot pay you and therefore don't want to stress you with the workload and 2) more people means more proofreaders, and I expect the translations meet some standards by you cross-checking each other's work.
Even if we can't get as many volunteers, the translation will still be done with the consent of the volunteer(s).
How long?
Well, I believe the current WG will last at least for another 2 months or so. After the WG is disbanded, I can't tell for sure where this will go atm. Maybe the future foundation can take this on or else.
However, you can always quit your volunteer no matter what.
How to volunteer?
If you still haven't checked out Steem Alliance Discord server, please do so. You can find me there. I'm Travis#7199, DM me and I'll get back to you. OR you can just leave a comment on this post but is less likely to be answered as quick.
So, by translating our posts and gathering them into a single spot, we can now spread the news to a wider community. But what about hearing their voices back?
I honestly cannot think of the best way to carry this out. This process needs much more resources than just simple translation work, but realistically, with the time and resources I or the current WG has, it's very unpractical to put too much effort on this huge scheme. I've been informing the news about Steem Alliance by translating @steemalliance posts into Korean for some time but making the Korean community have their voice heard to the rest and the WG is a whole different thing.
So, I don't know. I might stop here, just satisfy at the current stage. Or maybe I can build a smarter structure to make this happen with the translators. Please help me with a comment if you have any feedback with this matter :)
Still don't know what Steem Alliance is? You should find it out at @steemitalliance and our Discord server now. It is a community-driven foundation project, which means you can be a part of the decision-making process of how your steemit life will turn out to be in the future. Don't miss out!
Thanks for those supporting our work and volunteering for this role
Travis
