2Samuel 12:26-31
KJV:And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27
KJV:And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
28
KJV:Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
29
KJV:And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
30
KJV:And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.
31
KJV:And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
The world today is filled with people who seek to glory in themselves rather than for God. They seek "SELF" more than anything else, boasting in their accomplishments and achievements in life.
Today's passage talks about Joab, the commander of Israel's army and king David's right hand man, who had opportunity to make a name for himself. However, Joab sought the glory of his master rather than his.
Joab seized that opportunity and sent for his master so as not to make himself a name, and the master responded to his call.
How about you? Whose glory do you seek? Would you have done what Joab did if you were in his shoe?
Joab was a committed and faithful servant who refused to be trapped by greed and inordinate ambition.
As a child of God, whose glory do you seek? Do you seek to glory in self? Am here to remind you just like Joab did, that in the same way, people of God should not seek to glory in "SELF" for our glory is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
May God help us as we seek His glory daily in Jesus name, Amen!
Shalom!
Stay blessed!
