My Entry to the Contest "How to Become a Talented SteemHunter" by @rosatravels

Created and designed by @tabris and @project7 respectively, SteemHunt is a product discovery dApp built on top of Steem blockchain that rewards anyone who contributes within the community in the form of hunting products, upvoting , or moderating them, or delegating their SP to SteemHunt. The contributors get rewards in the form of Steem/ SBD and Hunt tokens.

I have been working as SteemHunt moderator for the last few months and reviewing hunts daily, so I would like to share my views about how to become a smart hunter.

A smart hunter is the one who shines in the sky of SteemHunt like stars!

First of all, I would like to define what a hunter is. A hunter, in SteemHunt terminology, is someone who discovers a product and writes about it and post it through SteemHunt platform. To become a hunter for SteemHunt, you do not need to have a training or to follow a course; you just need to have an interest in hunting products and to read, understand, and follow simple posting guidelines before posting. SteemHunt is just like other blogging platforms, such as Steemit or busy.org , but here, you write only about products.

A smart/ talented hunter is someone who takes into account the following features when submitting their hunt.

Requirements to post a cool hunt

Product name

Write the official product name, as it is on the product page, and do not add any trademark or copyright symbols with it.

Short description

When writing the short description for your hunt, keep in mind the following posting guideline:

Do not duplicate the product name or use any non-product-specific words in the field “short description.”

Short description should describe exactly what the product is about.

Product link

  • The product link you are using should be leading to the product directly. Don't use the main website as product link.
  • Only use the official product links from the manufacturer, developer. Don't use e-commerce links, such as Amazon, unless the product is manufactured by Amazon.
  • Other type of links you can use are: AppStore, PlayStore, Github, Bitbucket, Kickstarter, Indiegogo
  • In case you are using link from a crowdfunding site, make sure that the funding is active status or successfully completed. Projects with unsuccessful funding or those that are cancelled by the project owner are not accepted.
  • Don't use your referral links as product URL.
  • After you publish your hunt, check that the link is working; sometimes the link doesn't work after SteemHunt ref. is added to it. In such cases, use URL shortener to convert your link.

Hunter's comments

Write the hunter's comment in a way that captures the attention of the reader. The hunter's comment should be to-the-point, describing the product briefly, in own words. If you copy some content from the product's webpage, you must not only use the quotation marks to quote but also properly source the content. This is what the posting guideline # 4 is about.

Write a short description and hunter’s comment with your own words. Do not copy and paste from the product’s website or other sites. You can however quote some content from a site, but you must use quotation marks and cite the source properly.

See an example below.

Another example

To me, the hunter's comment doesn't look cool if it starts as follows:

"Hi hunters, how are you doing? Today I am going to present another hunt.... "

Images

Always use high quality images with good resolution. The images should be related to the product and taken from the website of the product.

What would I like to see in SteemHunt post?

Before checking out the product page, I would like to see how well the hunt has been presented. Images to me are very important, so I want to see good-quality images as well. I support the hunts that have not only introduced a cool product, but have also presented it beautifully and cited the copied text properly. Moreover, I am interested in hunts that introduce apps, web services, open source projects, softwares. Hunts about cars, scooters, robots do not interest me much.

Tagging 5 cool hunters

I would like to tag 5 cool hunters, whose profiles you can visit to view their hunts to know how cool, well-presented and aesthetically pleasing their hunts are.

Getting a hunt approved

A moderator will approve your hunt immediately if you had taken into account the posting guidelines before submitting your hunt. Sometimes, hunters make the following mistakes as a result of which the moderator asks them to revise the hunt. In such cases, they may 'Hide' your hunt and you may miss on upvotes.

  • Uploading low-quality images
  • Spelling mistakes in product name or short description
  • Broken product URL

Thus, you should check your hunt properly before submitting it. Make sure it has not already been posted on SteemHunt. Also, check that the link is working after you post it.

Hunters interacting with each other

The most common place where hunters meet with each other is the discord server of Steemhunt. We have a #coffee-lounge there where you can just meet with other hunters, make friends and can discuss anything. If you have a question about SteemHunt, you can ask in #questions . Other channels in the server where you can interact with other hunters are #hunt-token, #reviewhunt, #discussion.

ReviewHunt

Launching a new product can be exhilarating and nerve-wracking, but at the same time, it is complicated and expensive. The biggest challenge the makers face is to create a launching buzz and to get communities talking about their product and for this, they largely rely on social media to endorse their products.

ReviewHunt is a way to build buzz on social media for the new products through 20,000+ hunters who have been digging out and sharing products on SteemHunt since last year (2018).  It is a launching hub for product makers that would enable them to come in contact with hunters/ influencers to talk about their products through their different social media channels such as youtube, twitter, facebook, medium, reddit, instagram.

Through ReviewHunt, makers would offer newly-launched products and discounts to hunters in return for quality review.

Over the past few weeks, 67 companies from various areas, with an estimated monthly marketing budget of $588,186 (at the time of writing) have already signed up to ReviewHunt.

Hunt tokens

Hunt are ERC-20 utility tokens and the currency of the SteemHunt / ReviewHunt platforms.  A total of 500 million Hunt tokens will be issued and 50% of them will be airdropped for Steemians. You can earn Hunt tokens by variety of activities on SteemHunt, such as hunting products, upvoting them or sharing them on your social media channels. You can also earn Hunt by delegating your SP to SteemHunt.

Hunt token has recently been listed on Daybit exchange where it is traded vs. BTC.
