Goat Cheese & Apple Bruschetta with Adriatic Fig Spread
The special ingredient of this week's @steemit-ironchef challenge is the Apple 🍎. I will show you how to make a delicious appetizer that you can put together in just a few minutes. This is a Goat Cheese & Apple Bruschetta made with an Adriatic Fig spread. It's tart, sweet and creamy and there's no way you can have just one.
Ingredients
1 Apple
1 French Baguette Loaf
1/2 cup crumbled Goat Cheese
Fresh Thyme
Fig Spread/Preserves
A Dash of Cracked Pepper
A Dash of Oregano
Step 1: Chop The Apple
I used a Honey Crisp Apple, but you can use whatever kind you like.
Step 2: Mince The Thyme
Mince up fresh thyme needles until you have roughly a teaspoon.
Step 3: Crumble the Goat Cheese
I bought goat cheese crumbles, but if you get a log you should break it up into little bits.
Step 4: Mix It All Up
Mix the apple, thyme and goat cheese together in a bowl. Add a dash of oregano and finely ground black pepper.
Step 5: Toast Up The Baguette
Slice some french baguette and broil until lightly toasted.
Step 6: Spread The Fig
I found this Adriatic Fig spread at the store and thought it would fit perfectly. You can use any fig preserves. Lightly coat the tops of each baguette piece.
Step 7: Top With The Mix & Broil
Put a heap of the Apple/Cheese mixture on top of each baguette piece. Pop them back into the oven on broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 8: Serve & Enjoy!
Let it cool for a little but serve warm. It's truly a simple and delicious appetizer. I served it alongside more of the Adriatic Fig spread for dipping.
Let me know what you think!
