Every multiplayer game has a META aspect of it, where the players examine the rules of the game and build their own strategy to get most out of these rules and win. Games don't choice their own players so there will always be the ones who abuse the rules, and in the META of any game new abuses and counter abuses get created all the time.

"Metagaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game."
"In simple terms, it is the use of out-of-game information or resources to affect one's in-game decisions." -- Wikipedia.
The game I see people play on Steemit, is how we make the content we want seen. Trending page is full of posts that only interest few people. And good content can hardly be seen in this game. There are many proposals to solve this problem but the proposal must suit steemit's main vision "decentralization' and must be practical.
The best thing of it all is that we ARE playing this meta game, everyone thinks on how to make Steemit better without changing the basic rules of it's system. If one idea succeeded/implemented it might be bad for some other ideas but it will surely make the place better AND will make the next round of the META Game more engaging and amazing.
There's a lot we can do in front ends alone. No need to change the whole system. If you can develop a new front end website, do it.
I will fight for mine.
In the end... This is #JustaThought.
