As Steemit grows we are seeing lots of new people looking for others to follow. Each introduction post gets some 'Follow me!' comments. I've said many times that you should follow those whose posts are interesting to you. Do NOT do it just to persuade them to follow you back. If you just follow people for the sake of it your feed will be full of uninteresting posts and you will miss the good ones. Those who say they will follow you back are not really interested in what you write anyway. They are likely to unfollow you as soon as they have you hooked.
I never ask people to follow me, but they do so anyway.
There's also the 'vote for me and I'll vote for you' comments. 'Minnow' votes are not worth too much. Those with more SP will be choosy about what they vote for so you will need to make quality posts to earn real rewards.
Yes you can make a few pennies for follow/vote back, but it's a lot of work for little reward. You are better off making real connections with people who share your interests. Then Steemit will be more fun than work and you will look forward to coming back each day to a fresh bunch of great comments. You may also make something in the process and you can treat that as a bonus.
Remember: Quality > Quantity and Fun > Work.
Also: Do not mis-use tags. The introduceyourself tag has a specific purpose and some people will flag you for mis-use.
Steem on!
