Usually it is the mothers who watch with melancholy how her sweet and cuddly baby becomes a toddler, who goes her own way and has her own wishes. But even fathers must say goodbye - and prepare themselves for the fact that the child's entitlement to them as a parent increases.
In the first months of a child's life, men often only play the second fiddle. In most cases, mothers take care of most of the care and care around the baby. As a father, we carry the little creature around when it has a stomachache or tickle it to make it laugh. After that we often take care of other things. When the baby becomes a toddler, these comparatively quiet times are over. The baby does not just give back to Mom when daddy has enough, feels overwhelmed or wants to mow the lawn in the garden.
Everything new - the next stage of life begins
In the months after the first birthday, a toddler makes some really big jumps again. It starts to run and speaks the first words. Now it can no longer express its own wishes with loud shouts or sustained trepidation, but also actively contribute to their implementation. At the same time the child becomes more independent, wants to do many things for himself, for example eating or putting on the shoes. What will be a real relief for the parents in a few months is initially an additional burden. The child wants to do more and more alone, but still needs the support of the adults.
On the other hand, getting bigger naturally also brings real relief. At some point, the days of constant diaper changes are over or come to an end, the child is more independent and plays even for a long time once satisfied and persevering alone. Even sleeping, and above all, getting through sleep makes it better and better with age, and the child has a stable and stable sleep rhythm. This in turn gives the parents more scope and planning security - even for their own ventures without a child.
I want dad!
Fathers are now often dealing with a roaring dwarf who does not want to understand that dad just wants to read his newspaper. Just go out - in the workshop or mowing the lawn - is now no longer easily in it. Especially when your child develops a great liking for you and becomes a daddychild, you are now much more challenged than when you're a baby. Back then Mommy was the one and only thing as a loving breadwinner, today adventure and action with dad is much more important and interesting. At the same time the little ones are also critical and are no longer so easy to satisfy. The word "more", for example, when it comes to being thrown into the air, is one of the first in the vocabulary for many children. In addition to the requirements but also the love testimonies are clearer and more intense. A peck for dad, small presents like a stone picked up along the way and firm embraces are now more common and let so many fathers always open their hearts.
Whether they are mourning for baby time or are happy that it is over, times are changing for your child as well as for you! And the transition from baby to toddler is just the first change of many that you can still experience with your child. Enjoy every moment in every age phase of your child, because he will certainly not come back in this form.
