Make Your Own Organic Fertilizer – My Secret Recipe!!!
Farming is how I make a living. It is my income as well as the means in which I feed my family. After years of farming livestock as well as vegetables, I have picked up many tricks of the trade. One of my favourite farming “hacks” is my recipe for organic fertilizer, using goat urine which I collect from my goats.
This fertilizer is not only non-toxic, but it is an extremely cost-effective way of growing healthy crops using materials from nature. The fertilizer is made to be in a liquid form, so it can easily be administered when watering your plants.
Make your own fertilizer by following these steps :
Collect goat urine from goats.
Add sugar or carbohydrates. For example, 5% sugar compared to the amount of urine you have collected.
Allow the mixture to breath and be exposed to oxygen.
The mixture then needs to go through a fermentation process. I use the Aerobic Fermentation process, where the mixture requires oxygen to ferment. The bacteria that functions in this type of fermentation prefer to use Oxygen, since it’s more energy efficient.
After fermentation has been completed, mix your solution with 5 parts of water.
Apply it directly on to your plants or wet the soil.
Did you know? The ammonia from the urine, when mixed with sugar or carbohydrates, becomes a protein that is beneficial for plants and livestock like fish.
This organic liquid fertilizer makes a wonderful difference in the crop results because it feeds the plants the food that helps them grow strong and healthy.
