Recently I scored three pair of Soft Star handmade shoes in a swap group for $25! (for all 3!)
Lovely, preworn, minimal shoes in both my oldest two's sizes!

This pair had a broken buckle.
No problem! Diaper pin to the rescue!...until we find a new buckle.
We trecked through Hobby Lobby, with no luck. Until we looked at the clearance section.
There sat this leater bracelet... With a nearly perfect size buckle. For $.80.
Woohoo!
Perfect!
Go home, seam rip out the stitches around the elastic. Cut the leather off of the buckle.
Put it together. Then hand stitch !
