Falling Stars Rising 26

“What is it like to love a man?” said the darkness.

Claire tried to move, but there was nowhere to go: no up or down, left or right, front or back- a geometrical void.

“Do you want to see him?
Do you want to be near him?
Laugh with him,
speak with him?

Do you want to cook for him,
Do his laundry,
Raise his offspring,
and be a slave to him-
Cater to his every whim and perverse desire?

Will you surrender to his will?
Again after all these centuries,
To lie at his feet,
broken and chained to his imperial mien?

Tell me, child
Why do you love him?

His smell, his lips, his caresses?
For this man,
You lay bare the mysteries of your essence
And let him plunder your immortal field?

Jacob materialized above her and gripped her wrists, pinning her to the ethereal bed. She screamed and tried to get away, fight him off with her legs, but she was no match for his strength.
And he ravaged her in the voluptuous darkness,
With his lips and tongue
eagerly exploring the intimate geography of her being,
beyond the physical,
where all individuality had fallen apart
In the merging of being,
where she reached the blissful point of no return...

“Is this what you want?
To strain your muscles, distort your skeleton, and release body fluids?
Is this love?
Is this your forbidden fruit?
Your fall from grace?

Do you not fear his violence?
His will to power?
Unshakable!
His dominion over your spirit?”

Would you fight for him?
Would you lie for him?
Would you die for him?”

The darkness already knew the answer.

“I don’t know,” said Claire.

And the darkness retreated.
