As I have decided to sell our house on Romaniuk drive, in Richmond, I started two processes: one to sell the house and the other to look for a weekend and vacation house that I could afford and where my children and grandchildren would be happy to go.

I contacted a local realtor to be my selling agent and after visiting the house he suggested that it should be repainted and that we should replace the carpets. So, this is what we did and the house was sold very quickly.

I knew that my children would appreciate a house near the water. However, I knew that houses near the sea were expensive and out of my budget.

I was belonging to the "Club Francophone de Richmond" (Richmond Francophone Club). We were meeting several times a month either in a café or in the home of one of the members. Several times, I had a party in the backyard of our house on July 14th (Bastille Day).
I told my friends in the club that I was looking for a house near the water, but not near the sea. And I was told that I should investigate Harrison Hot Springs.

So, one Saturday, I went to Harrison Hot Springs, around 140 km from Richmond, and I liked what I saw. I checked that there was cable everywhere, so I would have no problem getting connected to the Internet.

I told my three daughters about Harrison Hot Springs, and we all went there another weekend. They also liked it and told me that it would be good to have a house there.

So, I contacted another realtor to be my buying agent and he found two houses that were suitable, one in the village and one five kilometers away on the East side of Harrison lake.

The house in the village had several kitchens but was not made of several apartments. I thought that my daughters would appreciate to be in the village and to be able to sometimes be somewhat independent of each other.
But, on the contrary, my daughters told me that they wanted a house with only one kitchen where we would be together all the time, and in fact, they would prefer not to be in the village.

So, I bought the other house at 5 km from the village. It is not directly near the lake but on the left side of the road. In fact, the same house near the lake would have cost twice what I paid for this one.
