Steemit Vision Quest week #5

my entry for week 5 Steemit Vision Quest: Desert Wilderness.desert_wilderness.jpg

I didn't record my painting process this time, so I guess I can walk through my thought process a little bit.

When I think of the words "Desert Wilderness" I first think of travelling to Arizona when I was young and hiking there. I remember red layered rocks and purple and orange sunsets every night.
I think of the interesting creatures I saw in that environment. Mostly lizards, jack rabbits and road runners.
I remember wandering off the trail once and seeing something green bolt out from under me and what looked like a little green man sprint towards the horizon and then disappear.

I also remember a recurring dream. Where I'm lost in the painted desert.

Since I knew I wouldn't have a lot of time I thought I could go for a very impressionist look. This week I used the drawing program Blackink. It has a lot of brushes that let you cover canvas space with vibrant colors very quickly. I thought this would work well.
I basically threw paint round until I had something like a sunset. desert_wilderness_bg.jpeg
very chaotic.

some of the upper layers. You can see more of the individual marks and brush strokes here.

Then I added some cacti and shrubs to make it a little more believable and add depth. Lastly I added the green bolt, a collared lizard, to keep the man company as he plays his guitar while watching the sunset.
