Happy Chinese New Year! It is time to visit China Town to buy some new year’s goods.
Today let me introduce you a unique place to have vegetarian meals. The restaurant is located in a temple at South Bridge Road, Chinatown in Singapore.
During Chinese New Year, Chinatown streets are very crowded, full with people who preparing Chinese New Year shopping.
This is most busiest and happening area in Singapore. Besides local residents, there are many tourists like to visit Chinatown for shopping and enjoying the ambience of Chinese New Year celebration.
There are many Chinese Zodiac Sculptures displayed at entrance of streets and somewhere next to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
Continued my journey, I walked to this grand and solemn temple which’s BUDDHA TOOTH RELIC TEMPLE in Chinatown. The temple is ornamented by the beautiful and colourful flowers and decoration.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is adopted the architectural style and elements of Tang Dynasty and combined the design of Buddhist mandala which’s symbolizing the global Buddhist culture.
The 3th floor of temple are Buddhist Cultural Museum have collection of variety of precious Buddhist relics such as boned and tongue relics.
The Sacred Light Hall is on the 4th floor which’s displayed the temple’s treasures, the huge stupa. The visitors can only worship Buddha tooth relics from the public viewing area. Only monks can enter the Buddha tooth Relics.
The rooftop garden with pagodas and Buddhist Prayer Wheel. There are few numbers of Plumeria rubra trees planted at rooftop garden as feature plants in the transquility and beautiful garden.
Continued my journey, I reached basement restaurant called Five Insights Hall 五观堂 which’s offering white / brown rice or Bee Hoon, noodles and many dishes. There are also serves daily specials like Laksa, Loh mee and Curry noodles.
Overall the environment is very clean and tidy. There are many seating in the restaurant for the temple visitors. Visitors were queue for ordering the food. All payment made with to drop cash into the donation box.
Let’s see below what we had ordered:
Bee Hoon with Stirred broccoli, Sesame Tofu, Sweet and Sour Mushrooms with cost S$3.00.
Daily special, Curry Noodles with cost S$3.00. It is very appertising and worthy as big portion they served.
Brown rice with Stirred Fried Naibai, Sesame Oil Youtiao and Rojak with cost S$3.00.
Plain rice with Crispy Fried Yam, Stirred Fried Chinese Spinach and Curry Potatoes. It is also cost S$3.00. The standard price is S$3.00 as long as we order rice or been hoon with 3 dishes.
The daily dessert was Black Barley Soup, also called Pulut Hitam. It was absolutely tasty!
Our extra order, also my favourite dessert, Red Bean Soup. The taste was so yummy!
For payment, the visitors just need to drop cash into the donation box personally after ordering the food. Standard price of food is S$3.00 each, and drink S$1.00 each.
