Brasserie 4:20 - Rome, Italy

@STEEMFoodTours #61

During my trip to Rome, I spent much of the time eating food. Not all of it was Italian cuisine. I met up with a long-time family friend who has been living in Rome for the past few years. We decided to go to Brasserie 4:20 for some pints and a bite to eat.

Brasserie 4:20 is a nice craft beer bar with a large selection of draft beers and a really cool ambiance.

As you can see in the photos above and below, the bar area was covered with real hop plants. They were looking a bit crispy and dried up, but it was still a very cool feature of the bar.

The place was empty when we got there, but after a few pints it began to fill up. I started off with a couple of stouts before switching over to the hoppy IPAs. I forget the names of the beers that I was drinking, but you can see a photo of one of the stouts below. It had a large foamy head.

We ordered a platter of french fries to split while we hung out and enjoyed some drinks. They were served like small little chips with a side of bbq sauce and a mayo-based sauce for dipping. They came with wooden spears to help you eat and share them with your friends. Overall, the fries were a little soggy for my liking, but it was a great way to fill up while having drinks and good conversations.

I also decided to order some chicken tenders as you can see in the photo below. This is not something I was ever expecting to see on a menu in Italy (let alone order). They came out in long thin sticks, nothing like I have ever seen. They were actually pretty good, especially for a hungry, drunk person. Very crispy and lacking a bit on the meat, but they had some nice flavor.

If you like craft beer, this is one of the best spots in Rome. I even saw a 'Hill Farmstead Society & Solitude #4' sticker on the bathroom door. Hill Farmstead is a small Vermont craft brewery that makes some of the best stuff on the East Coast of the US. It was weird seeing the logo on the other side of the world. I actually reviewed a Society & Solitude #2 on STEEM as you can see by clicking here Overall, the Brasserie 4:20 was a great place to stop for some pints and food. I recommend it if you're in Rome and you're craving something other than Italian food.
